Tripods can help you keep your camera still so your photo isn’t blurry. A tripod isn’t always needed for a great photo, but it is almost essential sometimes. Tripods are inexpensive and fold to be quite compact, so they are easy to take with you.
Tripods come in different sizes. There are table top models that have legs that are only about six inches long. Some have bendable legs so they can be lowered even closer to the ground or used on an uneven surface. These shorter tripods are good for capturing close up photos of smaller items such as insects, flowers, or even for product photography. The more popular size is adjustable to about four and a half feet to five feet tall. The legs are in three sections that slide up inside the upper parts of the legs. They are also adjustable for different heights. These are better for longer distance shots.
Tripods are almost essential when taking a long exposure photograph or a low light shot. The long exposure time means that any amount of shake will result in a blurry photograph. Even
the pressure of hitting the button on the camera can cause shake, so a remote is recommended as well as a tripod.
For sharp photos, a tripod is a necessity. They aren’t normally used for snapshots or for fast moving subjects such as at a sports event. For any situation where you need a long exposure time, for creativity or for low light, they will reduce blurring and help you get a cleaner photo.
